Crafting Veil Haven Fact
Originally, Veil Haven was Anne's attempt to write a standalone novel—since she had been working on an eight book space opera series. The first draft of Veil Haven was massive—far too big for any publisher. After some brainstorming, Anne realized she had actually written two books. Which naturally had a conclusion with a third. So much for a standalone!

Anne's friends say she is most like Josie and Shakira.

Crafting Veil Haven Fact
Every time Anne revises the book, she rewrites it from scratch. In the span of three years, she rewrote Veil Haven nine times. The last four revisions happened in the span of three months.

In the first three drafts of Veil Haven, Ash was either too sad, too angry, or too passive. There was also a detective arc. And witches.

Crafting Veil Haven Fact
Anne often says, "As it is written, so it shall be." This is because various plot points have come true in the author's life. For better or worse.

If Ash randomly wins the lottery, you know what to do... say nothing.

World Building Fact
Almost all of the "set dressing" in Veil Haven was inspired by something in real life. Whether it was a road sign that read GORE, strange lights on the mountain no one saw but Anne, a strange-looking deer crossing sign, a black river, a funny store name, or some outlandish inside joke, Veil Haven is more real than you know.
